Product Engineering Manager

Position Overview

The Product Engineering Manager will lead the Product Engineering team and own engineering activities across the full product lifecycle – from NPI (New Product Introduction) transfer into production through ongoing manufacturing support, continuous improvement, and long-term product stability.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong engineer who thrives at the intersection of product definition, manufacturing operations, and quality. You will manage a team of approximately four engineers and serve as the primary engineering point of contact across R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production. The role is based on-site in Jerusalem and is central to ensuring that Alpha Tau’s complex medical devices are manufactured reliably, consistently, and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage the Product Engineering team of approximately 4 engineers, setting priorities, goals, and development plans
  • Mentor team members and foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement

Product Lifecycle Ownership

  • Own product engineering activities across the complete product lifecycle – from NPI handoff through steady-state production and end-of-life
  • Lead Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes, including initiation, impact assessment, cross-functional review, implementation, and documentation
  • Manage Bills of Materials (BOM), engineering drawings, and all product definitions

Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to production lines, resolving technical issues and preventing disruptions
  • Lead complex failure investigations and root cause analyses, driving corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance yield, robustness, cycle time, and cost-efficiency
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, fixtures, tooling, and work instructions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production as the primary engineering interface
  • Support design transfer activities by ensuring manufacturability and smooth NPI transitions
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners on component quality, engineering changes, and qualification activities

Qualifications

  • Required
    • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in product engineering or manufacturing-support engineering
    • Hands-on experience with ECO processes, BOM management, and ERP systems
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven approach
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functions
    • Fluent English – written and spoken

    Preferred

    • Prior managerial experience or team / project leadership
    • Experience in a regulated medical device environment (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, EU MDR)
    • Experience with NPI and design transfer in a precision or medical manufacturing setting
    • Experience with SolidWorks
